By using basic, fundamental shapes our new butterfly is ready to represent Indigo’s continuing statement toward simple, powerful design.

Take a look at how it was created below:

Step 1

1.) After sketching out the basic layout,
we chose an overall shape to generate all the parts of the logo.

Step 2

2.) Starting with Basic circles and gradients of the Indigo color
scheme and branding are laid out.

Step 3

3.) The circles then meet to overlap and produce another shape and shade where they meet.

Step 4

4.) The wings are a result of the overlap between the circles.

Step 5

5.) The wings are multiplied in different shades of the Indigo color scheme to
suggest top and bottom wings.

Step 6

6.) Layering the gradients in this case serves both purposes of animating
the logo, making the butterfly appear as if it were flying.

Step 7

7.) Once the wings were in place the body was pieced together using lines and shapes generated from the wing shape. The body uses the dot of the “i” of the typeface used in the branding.

Step 8

8.) The new logo is to be placed with the original selected branding typeface Chalet 1970.

Step 9

9.) The new logo is positioned to continue to dot the Indigo “I” from here until the next logo update.

Previous Logo

10.) Farewell old logo! Its been fun!

Using Data visualization you will lear very quickly how big the internet is. You’ll will find out how many videos a average user watches monthly and how many servers major social media sites use. Watch the power of the Internet!

1.73 billon internet users, 247 billion daily emails, 400 million facebook users, 27.3 million tweets per day. This presentation was made in 2009, can you visualize the numbers today? How about next year???

TYPEFACE, the documentary takes a look at the scarcely discussed art of the font through the scope of the Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

While contemporary culture transitions to a world leaving less and less of an agenda behind for analog crafts, Typeface can still be considered the most active form of Folk Art. TYPEFACE, the documentary takes a moment educate the public/pay homage to the design and impact of Typeface along with the minds and hands responsible for the development of the thing.

As integral as written correspondence is within our overall communication system its no doubt that a very delicate, deliberate science and art make up its foundation.

When it comes to Typeface we are as aware as we are unaware of what creates harmony within any written content. Spacing between characters, words, sentences and paragraphs all hold a heavy impact on the fluidity of the read. Any citizen of the given language that reads regularly would immediately notice a discomfort by the slightest shift in standard spacing.

The Trailer

Typeface is as uniquely researched and crafted as the spacing sensitivities. When dissecting each character, the linear relationship and exaggeration of each part relative to the rest of the word and/or sentence has an impact on the viewer, or, if more involved, the reader.

The iconic value of the nuances embedded within our written language, from concept to deployment, revealed by this documentary along with the machines that made the production possible.

As inherent concern with the exterior message naturally trumps the relevance of any reflection on design and development behind the characters that we use on a daily basis; still an emotional, mental and visual impact is made as often as they are used.

Regardless of our now and still growing digital world, this analog craft continues to leave its mark in full. TYPEFACE, the documentary provides insight into the science, art and design that has shaped and continues to shape our communication vessel, within the written environment.

It is America’s art history and personal story, which is why I decided to hold this exhibition in its home roots of New York. Since New York in the 1970′s, this movement has become a global phenomenon. These individuals may have started on the street but they have developed into great studio artists and it is important that their talent and recognition is seen and documented within the art world.

“Cowboy in Mountains.” Patagonia Cowboy series. 2008. © Muftafa Abdulaziz

Of Note magazine provides a platform where art is not bounded or filtered by subject matter, medium or popularity but rather founded on empowerment activism, and social dialogue. The artists and artistic works featured in Of Note demonstrate a commitment to global citizenship and social change. The mission, of this online publication is to increase participation and improve access to artists and artwork that celebrates people of color.

Indigo was more than happy to work with Of Note and organize their vast, extensive material allowing the variation of artwork and media to be experienced in an accessible and visually appealing way. We worked with Of Note to develop an online newsletter that would create a clear visual impact and also allow email delivery to be compatible with most emails clients as well as webmail.

Throughout the newsletter readers are provided with the most current as well as previously featured news in art, photography, theater, and dance. Of Note views these art-forms as seamlessly connected. Indigo respected this viewpoint throughout the newsletter design navigating viewers directly from one art-form to the next, from artist to artist.

Furthermore, the newsletter familiarizes viewers with the respective venues displaying the artwork channeling visitors to explore the extended collection.

Since 2005, the Volvic+UNICEF partnership has been dedicated to providing clean drinking water to thousands of children in Ethiopia, Niger and Mali. The latest “Drink 1, Give 10″ campaign will provide critical support to one of Ethiopia’s most water-scarce regions.

When Indigo recieved this project it became clear that the main focus should be educating people in a instantaneous and memorable way about the water situation in Ethiopia. This meant using clean, clear images, overlapped with Flash to lead visitors through the site with a navigation support system developed around the patterns of questions visitors have on the workings organization. The fact page was used to present the urgent issues in Ethiopia in a very direct method using images and reiterating the underlined statement of the organization in Flash animation.

Hello! Hope North is a non-profit based in Uganda that we found out about through one of our clients, Keisha Whitaker (Kissable Couture). They’re doing some amazing work and we were thrilled to work on enhancements to their site. You can check out a few links below, but also consider donating on their site. It’s a great cause.
