The Test Shoot

Indigo’s friend and client Jean Baptiste Degez was recently presented with the challenge of photographing chocolate for a well-known, European Chocolate Company. The challenge was to shoot the chocolate as chocolate.

Due to the extreme difficulty of photographing chocolate on photo shoots, the ever-loved treat is often substituted with a substance significantly easier to work with and able to fare much better under the heat of extreme lighting.

Nevertheless, Baptiste was astoundingly successful in shooting the melty challenge in its true form. In fact, the images came out so well Baptiste has been hired to photograph for the chocolate company’s advertising campaign.

But the chocolate will stay on the shelf, in accordance with company standard, Baptiste will be using the chocolate’s well-behaved imposter while photographing rather than the real thing, which should be a piece of cake

Indigo became the one stop shop for Renewable Beauty skincare. The ultimate goal was to create a branding which visually bonded the company’s deep roots in science and technology with sustainability, simplicity and beauty.

Starting off, Indigo created a logo based on the clear simple geometric forms of the double helix and the leaf form from the berry plant that is a staple ingredient of the product. The fusion resulted in a clean, clear branding mark signifying elegance and simplicity in nature and technology.

Indigo provided and managed the photography, to support the company’s clean crisp and organic essence. High quality digital images were selected and collected in continuing with the remaining visual directives.

Moving forward, Indigo created and managed the packaging for the brand, embracing natural, clean, simple materials and 100% recycled paper for all labels and boxes, and leaflets.

Following the product packaging, Indigo then created an online presence for Renewable Beauty in designing and developing a site fully managed by a CMS allowing easy updates, and edits to product.

Additionally, in order to enable Renewable Beauty to easily create, send, manage and gather feedback on email blasts and product promotions; Indigo designed and setup a newsletter template encompassing the new branding, hosted on Indigo Campaign.

All in all, renewable beauty is now fully realized, launched and entirely equip to manage, inform and embed their methodology of technology meeting nature and sustainable packaging and cosmetics amongst the market.

Inspired by markets of the Mediterranean region and their gastronomic specialties Marché du Sud is a gourmet French market, restaurant, bakery, and wine bar all under one roof.

Marche du Sud, reached out to Indigo Design about increasing social activity within the structure of the site as well as enveloping the restaurant-marketplace fusion within one easy to manage content management system.

Indigo created a simple to navigate site and CMS fully manageable by Marche du Sud, with an integrated blog that can be seamlessly linked to facebook and twitter.

Five years ago Indigo worked with David and Reynald to create a unique night/day contemporary online presence for the salon.

Since Red Market’s recent location opening in Miami and due to changing technology i.e.smartphones, Ipads etc., the Red Market site was due for an optimization make over. The site which was once entirely flash is now entirely HTML and CSS styled in order to reach the widest audience possible, and maintain flexibility between devices.

In addition, social networking, managing appointments, product details, and stylist bios are essential to salon. Red Market not only expects this to be easily manageable but depends on it operate smoothly. We replaced the former CMS with WordPress, our choice CMS. This allows members of the Red Market Team to easily and independently manage their content.

Red Market now has a site that is in sync with the expanding success of the salon’s needs.

Indigo was assigned create a site for Jean-Baptiste allowing the photos to communicate their content to clients autonomously, without extraneous distraction. The importance was placed on allowing each image to be viewed separately as a work of art.

After five years, due to changing technology i.e.smartphones, Ipads etc., Degez’s site required optimization in order to remain consistent and accessible with ever advancing communications. The site which was once entirely flash is now entirely HTML and CSS styled.

In Jean-Baptiste’s case, managing his images is equally essential as their display. Performing constant updates, filtering and grouping work by date, theme, subject, etc. makes up a considerable portion of Degez’s site relationship.

We replaced the former CMS developed in flash which had allowed Jean-Baptiste to access and manage his galleries independently, with WordPress, our choice CMS.

Baptiste can now achieve the same functionality and manageability of his former site while remaining superbly in sync with the technology of his clients and the contemporary public.

Indigo was sure to present The Tea Set’s e-commerce site with just as much care as their teas are packaged, prepared and presented.

Indigo provided The Tea Set with an all inclusive site and e-commerce functionality using the Big Commerce.

Thanks to our recent location Indigo is now exaposed to some of New York City’s top photographers on a daily basis.

The Tea Set had the pleasure of working with the young and talented photographer Evan Miller who has provided the images for the signature colorful tin containers and packaging for displayed throughout the site.

Provided with clean eye-catching photography Indigo was able to create a turn key site with e-commerce functionality reflecting The Tea Set branding model of clean, simple and organic using the Big Commerce.

On a riverside opening to colossal views of the Manhattan skyline and the George Washington bridge, this charming french bistro offers a variety of serene settings.  From an enclosed terrace, to an outdoor garden, and intimate fireplace lit interiors Le Jardin’s fine french continental cuisine is embraced by an ambiance for every occasion.

Indigo design worked with Le Jardin’s existing color scheme and branding to create an updated website with an easy navigation and a Content Management System to organize the site and allow clients to find specific information about Le Jardin including bar, lunch, sunset or dinner menus and private dining events. The information is easily updated on the management’s side using Word Press.

While this isn’t a tribute to Mr. Phil Collins, it definitely inspired us to pay a little homage to the man. But what inspired us even more was the photography of our good friend and client Jean Baptiste Degez. Degez, a photographer out of Paris, took these amazing shots in the forest of Fontainebleau (France). With the focus on a cat-like street gymnast donning a full suit and performing parkour, the result is something unexpected yet visually stunning.

Serving over 400 wines from around the world, Vertical wine bar is a true destination in Old Town Pasadena.  With its traditional small plate bistro menu to compliment your each and every wine choice this destination required a site that would express its quaint, elegant nature, with a California modernity and flare.

The small plates menu at Vertical Wine Bistro were created by Chef Sara Levine and are presented alongside wine selections by Sommelier Scott Teruya.  Indigo and Vertical Wine Bar had a similar vision for a site in that it would be kept clean, balanced and unpretentious.  Balance was an emphasis in this project due to the nature of this wine bar in which food and wine are balanced not only in amount, but in flavor and presentation.  This notion of balance is well recognized througout the interior design of the bar as well.

Indigo achieved a balance within the website without compromising image presentation or clarity of information by organizing the site as a diptych wherein one panel uses flash animation to cleanly display the various attributes of the restaurant while clearly listing pertinent information about the establishment on the opposite panel.  The result is a website that in the simplicity of its layout, fully expresses the design characteristics and culinary goals which Vertical Wine Bar values as an identity.
